The Captain, Officer’s & Members of Dromana Fire Brigade and Dromana Fire Brigade Auxiliary are sadened by the passing of Ron Hipwell, Brigade Life Member, CFA Life Member, recipient of National Medal (3rd Bar), 60 Years Service Medal, VUFBA Gold Star and Outstanding Service Badge. Fireman (1952-1976), Foreman (1976-1982), Fireman (1982-2006), Member (2006-2012), VUFBA competitor (1952-1975), Brigade delegate to the Dromana Foreshore COM for 33 years and Recreational Ground COM (running track) for 29 years. Our brigade’s prestigious Firefighter of the Year Award is named in honour of your significant service. Your service to not only Dromana but to the CFA in general has been outstanding. Sincere sympathy to your extended family.

When a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished, what he does after that is all in the line of duty.
